Late this morning, I went to the park and ran 5 miles on the trails. A half mile into the run, I looked down and saw a copperhead in the middle of the trail. Luckily, I saw it in enough time to go around it. That's only the 4th snake I have seen on the trails all season.

- Retired from the Army in 1984 and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 2005. Current age: 83. Began running in 1961 and racing in 1983. Completed over 1,400 races, to include 101 marathons or ultra-marathons and 106 half marathons. My normal running place is Huntsville State Park. I am a STREAKER, meaning that I run every day.
