The Green Ultra at Millican 10K
I did not feel well this morning, but I still drove to Millican to run the Green Ultra 10K Trail Run. Very technical course, with plenty of trip hazards, steep embankments, mud, gravel and plowed fields by wild pigs. The course was suppose to be a 10K (6.2 miles), but was actually 7.1 miles. I finished with my worst 10K time ever, 2:50:08. However, being the only runner over 80, I finished first in my age group.

Texas 10 Series shut down
I was disappointed in the announcement this morning that the Texas 10 Series has shut down. According to my count, they have held 81 races in different parts of the the state since 2012. I have run 79 of them. All were first class in every respect. Tonight, I went down to Conroe and ran the Fass Brewery 5K. The crowd there keeps growing.

Heavy rain today
We had a much needed heavy rain today. I waited until later this afternoon to run at the state park. As expected, the dry trails had soaked up the rain and I did not have to run in the mud. Got in 3.2 miles, mostly on the trails.

Back is a little better
My sore lower back is a little better. I laid on a heating pad today and then worked out at the gym. I made it out to the park later this afternoon and ran 4 miles, 3 on the trails and 1 on the roads.

Wet run
I had a lot of family at the house today and did not get out to the park to run until late this evening. I ran 3.8 miles, about half on the roads and half on the trails. About half the entire run was in a heavy rain.

Snake number 1
I had planned to drive south and run one of the park runs this morning, but with my back still hurting, I decided not to. I went to the park later this morning and ran 3.3 miles on the trails. Saw my first snake of the season on the trail. He (or she) was ahead of me on a board walk, but took off before I could figure out what kind of snake it was.

Woke up with back issue
I woke up this morning with a very sore lower back, presumably from operating a stump grinder a couple days ago. I made it to the park late this morning with a plan to run a minimum of 3.1 miles. It eased up some after running for a while, so I ended up with 3.7 miles, all on the trails.

Heavy yard work
I spent all afternoon doing heavy yard work (i.e. operating a stump grinder). I finally got to run at 4:30 this evening. It was hard to get moving, but I ran 3.8 miles at the state park, about half on the roads and half on the trails.

Bernhardt Wine 5K and Sunday Night 5K
I ran the Bernhardt Wine 5K in Plantersville at 10:30 this morning. There were 566 finishers, so it was a rather large race. Lots of good friends to visit with. I finished in 49:15, but the course was only 2.9 miles, according to my GPS. I kept running passed the finish line until I got in 3.1 miles, the full 5K distance. The course was cross country, except for a short distance on gravel roads. I was first of one in the 80 and over age group. Later this afternoon, I drove down to The Woodlands and ran the Sunday Night 5K. Finished in 51:19.
