Run Your Resolution 5K

 I ran the Run Your Resolution 5K trail run at Millican this morning.  Very technical trails, but luckily no falls.  I finished in 1:06:09 and was first of one in the 80 and over age group.  This was my 62nd race and last race this year.  It was my 880th 5K and my 1,431st lifetime race.  My total miles for this December was 109.7 and for all of 2024, 1,173.5 miles (average 3.2 per day).  My running streak is currently at 3 years, 7 months and a few days.  Since August 1, 2024, I have run at least 3.1 miles every day.

Congratulations to Robert Raven Kraft of South Miami Beach, Florida, whose running streak reached 50 years today.  Eight miles on the beach every evening for 50 years.  Absolutely amazing and inspiring.  So many times I thought of not running because of some ailment or pain and then I thought of Raven.  I had the honor of running with him in 2017.  I missed the big celebration in Miami today, but I did wear a Raven Run T-shirt in Millican this morning.

Back to the park for the last time this year

 I went back to the park to run this afternoon for what should be my last time this year.  Got in 3.5 miles, mostly on the trails.

Lots of people on the trails

 I went out to the park fairly late this afternoon and ran 4.1 miles, mostly on the trails.  There were a lot of hikers on the trails.  Bet I passed a 100 or so.

Spindle Tree 5K Park Run

 I ran the Spindle Tree 5K Park Run in Magnolia this morning.  Finished in 53:04, about 15 seconds slower than last time.

Crowded park

 The state park was pretty crowded when I went to run this afternoon.  Lots of campers for the holidays.  I ran 3.6 miles, mostly on the trails.

Fass Brewery 5K

 For the first time in a couple weeks, I ran the Fass Brewery 5K in Conroe tonight.

Merry Christmas

 After church this morning, I went to the park and ran 3.6 miles on the park roads.  I had to take a detour at one point.  A huge oak tree feel onto the road and hour before my run.  A pickup was badly damaged, but no one was hurt.

 To save a little time, I did not drive to the park this morning and ran 3.3 miles in town.

Busy day

 With Christmas in a couple days, it was a busy day.  However, I got in a workout at Iron Works and 3.4-mile run at the park, mostly on the trails.

Late Sunday afternoon at the park

 With church and visiting family, I did not get out to the park until late this afternoon.  I managed to get in 4 miles before dark, mostly on the trails.

Change of plans

 I planned on driving down to Magnolia this morning to run the Spindle Tree 5K Park Run.  However, I did not get much sleep last night and was awake to turn off the alarm before it went off at 5:45 am.  I decided to skip the race and try to get some sleep.  After a couple  hours of good sleep, I got up.  I ran in town early this afternoon and got in 3.6 miles.

Nice day for trails

 It was clear and cool this afternoon.  A nice day for running trails at the park, except the fallen leaves hide the roots.  Luckily, not trips and falls.  Got in 3.3 miles.

No Fass

 I decided not to run the Fass Brewery 5K in Conroe tonight.  Sam Houston State was playing in its first bowl game ever in New Orleans at 6 this evening, so I stayed home to watch the game on TV.  This morning, I went out to the park solely to visit with my friends at their camp site.  Later this afternoon, I ran 3.6 miles in town.

Finished after dark

 I went to the park late this evening and ran 4 miles on the roads.  With just over a mile to go, I got called to a camp site by an old running buddy and his wife.  Actually, she is a runner too.  I ran a lot of 50K's and other races with him over the years.  So, I took a break and sit around the campfire with them for a while.  I had to finish my run in the dark.

 It was 80 degrees when I went to run at the park this afternoon.  I stayed on the trails and got in 3.8 miles.

Jingle Bell 5K

 I drove east to Livingston late this morning to run the Jingle Bell 5K.  They changed the course a bit this year and according to my GPS, it was long at 3.25 miles.  I finished in 53:30 and was 2nd of 2 in the 60 and over age group.  They also awarded me and two other guys in their 80's, who did the 2-mile walk, a super nice desk clock for being over 80.

 The state park reopened today after a second week of hunting.  I ran 3.4 miles at the park this afternoon, mostly on the trails.  No falls or attacks by deer or squirrels.

Didn't get the word

 I drove down to Conroe tonight to run the Fass Brewery 5K.  When I got there, I found out that it was cancelled due to a private party at the Brewery.  So, I drove another 20 minutes south to The Woodlands and ran 3.5 miles on the well-lit waterway.

 With the park still closed, I ran in town again this evening.  Got in 4.1 miles.

 With the state park still closed for hunting, I ran in town this afternoon.  Did 3.7 miles.

 I had a busy afternoon and did not get a chance to run until late this evening; 3.1 miles in town with a flashlight.

Texas 10 Series Conroe 5-Miler

I ran the Texas 10 Series 5-Mile race in Conroe this morning.  This was my 12th straight year for running the  Texas 10 Series 10 or 5-mile race in Conroe.  Finished in 1:23:58 and was 1st of 1 in the 70 and over age group.

Reindeer 5K

 I ran the Reindeer 5K in Lufkin this morning.  I finished in the cold (40 degrees) and rain in 50:08 and was 1st of 1 in the 70 and over age group.

Back to the park

 The park has been closed for 4 days for deer hunting.   I went to the park to run early this afternoon and asked the guy at the gate how many deer were taken this week.  He said, 2.  Maybe they will do better with squirrels next week,  I got in 3.1 miles on the park roads.

 It was a nice clear and cool night to run the Fass Brewery 5K in Conroe.

Wet run

 It rained all day today.  It was a light rain at mid-afternoon, so I went into town and ran 3.6 miles.

New running shoes

 I put on some new Asics running shoes today and ran 3.5 miles in town.  I have been running in Saucony for several years, but could not find my model for a reasonable price.  I usually wear out a pair of shoes in 60 days, but ran about 70 in the last pair.  The Asics were very comfortable.  Now, we have to see how long they last.

Park is closed

 The state park is close from Monday thru Thursday of this week and next week for squirrel and deer hunting.  Hopefully, late in the Spring, they will close for biting horse fly hunting.  So, I had to run in town this afternoon.  Got in 3.6 miles.

Sunday Night 5K

 I ran the Sunday Night 5K in The Woodlands this evening and finished in 52:45.  This was my 155th time running this race.
