Gator Bait 5K

For the first time, I ran the Gator Bait 5K Trail Run at Huntsville State Park this morning.  Very hot and especially humid.  I felt sluggish and unmotivated and my finish time of 50:36 (50:23 chip time) showed it.  With all the rain lately, the trails were muddy in spots, but I managed to not to trip over a root and slip in the mud.  It was probably a new 5K PW (personal worst) for me.  However, I won first in the 70-74 age group (I was the only one).  I did beat the guy in the 75-79 age group.  My next race is the Polish Pickle 5K on Saturday.  It will be my 20th straight year for running this race.

I'm glad you did it though as it was so great to meet you and your wife! That humidity was just a killer. This was my third trail race of the year and my favorite with the condition of the trails - what a great place to run. Not falling is always a positive - first time I didn't fall, only a close call. Hope our trails cross again in the future! Have a great week. -Lee Ann

Thanks, Lee Ann. Great meeting you and Jake. I have been running those trails for over 20 years and will be back out there tomorrow. I have fallen so many times that I probably run slower than I should on the trails just to avoid falling. Congratulations to you both on your 15K finish. Look forward to seeing you at another race.
