Catching up
My computer went into the shop on Friday and I got it back today with instructions to buy a new computer. It is limping along now - sorta like my running. So, tomorrow I have to start shopping for a new computer. In the meantime, here is an update on my running.
Friday, December 12 - The park is closed for deer hunting. Ran 3.6 miles in town.
Saturday, December 13 - Jingle Bell 5K. I drove to Livingston and ran the Jingle Bell 5K at noon. Warm, with the temperature in the 70's. I finished in 52:56, but the course was a little long - 3.27, according to my GPS. They gave awards to the top two 60 and over, so I did not place. As long as I was close to the casino at the Indian Reservation, I drove there and invested $100. Was there for less than 30 minutes and left with $200.
Sunday, December 14 - With the park still closed, I ran 3.2 miles in town.
Monday, December 15 - Park is open again. They told me that there were 12 hunters at the park in the last 3 days and only 1 deer was killed. Seems like a waste to close the park for that. After one week, my left calf is still sore, but is tolerable after a half mile. I ran 3.5 this afternoon, mostly on the trails.

Back to the trails
My left calf is still sore, but keeping me from running. After a half mile or so, the pain subsides. I went to the park this afternoon and ran 3.5 miles, mostly on the trails. I tripped and stumbled a couple times (no falls), but the trails felt more comfortable. The park closes again tomorrow thru the weekend. Deer hunting this time.
Tuesday at the park
I went to Conroe early this afternoon to have a C-spot removed from my forehead. The dermatologist said that I had spent too much time in the sun when I was young. I told him it was from wind burn from running too fast. In any case, I have a few stitches and a big bandage for a while. When I got back from Conroe, I headed for the park and ran 3.6 miles on the roads. My leg felt a little better.

Gimpy run
I woke up last night with my left calf hurting. Somehow, I must have pulled a muscle yesterday. I iced it and took Tylenol today, but it was really sore. I went to the park this afternoon to attempt a run. After about 50 feet, I thoughts of my streak ending. However, as I continued to run, the pain was tolerable (more so going down hills). I stayed on the roads and ran a gimpy slow 3.1 miles.

Back to the park
After four straight days of running races, I returned to the state park late this morning. Low 40's and a light drizzle. The camping area was almost empty and I saw only one other person on the trails. I ran one mile on the roads and 2.7 on the trails.
